Remote access for your rig

Reach your telescope from anywhere.

Open your Polaris setup over the internet with no port forwarding, no dynamic DNS, and no router surgery.

Your rig dials out. Nothing is opened on your home network.

Someone in a cosy cabin watches a galaxy on a tablet while a glowing arc connects them to a telescope on a distant mountain under the stars.

Three steps

Set it up once and leave it.

The relay is already built into Polaris. Turn it on with a token and your rig gets a permanent address on the internet.

01

Turn on the relay

In Polaris, open Settings → Remote access relay, paste the token we send you, and save.

02

Your rig opens a tunnel

Polaris dials out to the relay over an encrypted connection. It opens no ports and changes nothing on your firewall, so nothing at home is exposed.

03

Open it from anywhere

Go to your address, you.relay.polaris-astro.app.br, in any browser or the Polaris app, from any network.

Why a relay

The part your router makes hard, done for you.

No port forwarding

Nothing to open on your router, and your home IP is never exposed. The rig makes the connection outward.

A real certificate

Proper HTTPS with a trusted certificate, so the Polaris iPhone and Android apps connect without the self-signed warnings you get on the local network.

Works with the apps

Add your relay address in the Polaris app once. It stays in your list and reconnects on its own, right next to your local rig.

Passes through, keeps little

Traffic streams between your rig and your device. The relay logs only metadata, never your images or credentials. Privacy policy.

The honest bits

What to expect before you rely on it.

There is a little extra lag

The relay runs on a server in Europe, so expect a couple hundred milliseconds of round trip depending on where you are. That is fine for framing, focusing, and watching a session. For split-second manual slewing, a local connection is still best.

Video uses your allowance

Plans are sized by monthly traffic. Watching a live loop or streaming video through the relay adds up faster than plain monitoring, so keep an eye on it if you leave the live view running for hours.

Set a Polaris password

The relay carries the connection; it does not replace your app's login. Give Polaris a password so your public address is not wide open. It takes a moment in Settings.

The connection stays yours

The relay terminates the encrypted connection and forwards it in memory. It records only metadata, tenant, time, size, and outcome, so it can enforce your allowance. It never stores your images or your password. Terms · Privacy.
